BILLING SPECIALIST

 

The billing specialist reviews time entries made by attorneys and legal assistants and utilizes timekeeping and billing software to convert those entries into invoices customized for particular clients. The billing specialist also creates invoices in which clients are charged for cash disbursements incurred by the firm on behalf of the clients. The billings specialist must learn details of patent and trademark procedures (U.S. and international) and be able to navigate easily through complicated billing and docket management software.

 

Required:

  • Excellent academic record (transcript required)
  • Excellent grammar and spelling skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Willingness to occasionally work on weekends as needed
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with attorneys, staff, and clients
  • Stamina to work all day under pressure
  • Punctual
  • Accurate

 

DOCKETING CLERK

 

The docketing clerk provides support to Legal Assistants and Attorneys by reviewing and entering incoming and outgoing correspondence into our docketing system. The docketing clerk must learn details of patent and trademark procedures (U.S. and international) and be able to navigate docket management software. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, skills, and experience.

 

Required:

  • Excellent computer skills including Word and Excel
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Willingness to occasionally work on weekends as needed
  • Desire to stay in Gainesville for at least the next 5 years
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with attorneys, and staff
  • Stamina to work all day under pressure
  • Punctual
  • Accurate

 

PATENT ATTORNEY

 

SLE seeks a highly qualified individual to draft and prosecute patent applications relating to semiconductors, circuits, computer architecture and/or software. This individual will also counsel clients and draft opinions.

 

Required:

  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, or related field.

 

LEGAL SECRETARY

 

SLE seeks a highly qualified individual to assist attorneys as they interact with clients and foreign associates in the course of securing U.S. and foreign patent protection for high tech inventions. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, skills, and experience.

 

Required:

  • Excellent academic record
  • Excellent academic and work attendance record
  • Excellent grammar and spelling skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • No fear of difficult technical terms and concepts in the life sciences field
  • Desire to work as a Legal Secretary/Assistant for at least the next 5 years
  • Desire to stay in Gainesville for at least the next 5 years
  • Willingness to occasionally work on weekends as needed
  • Stamina to work all day under pressure

Desirable:

  • 1 to 5 years of law office and/or patent law experience
  • Academic and/or work related experience in the life sciences
  • Ability to read and/or speak Korean, Chinese, Spanish, and/or German

 

RENEWALS SPECIALIST

 

The Renewals Specialist maintains the firms annuity/maintenance fee docket, updates procedures and manual, communicates directly with attorneys and clients regarding deadlines, instructs renewal service to register or remove cases, instructs service to pay or abandon cases, enters attorney time, navigates through the USPTO and foreign trademark websites for information, obtain quotes, implements payment through the USPTO website, creates status reports for clients and attorneys.

  • Ability to communicate orally and writing with attorneys, colleagues, and clients

RECEPTIONIST

SLE seeks full-time receptionist. Responsibilities include greeting guests, answering phone calls, updating firm calendars, ordering supplies, preparing UPS labels, assisting with clerical and data entry work. Computer experience required. Must be detailed-oriented, have ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Salary based on qualifications and experience.
